The creek also reached flood stage in late March and has since flooded at least 1,000 acres in Lake County.
News 5 asked the mayor of Brook Park for comment but got nothing back. The mayor encouraged the council to wait before taking action, as the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District will present a regional report on flooding and rainwater at the council meeting on September 15.
The next steps will be to create a pumping system that will keep water from the historic Ohio and Erie canals. This will improve water quality in Cuyahoga while maintaining the health of water supplies for residents of Brook Park and other communities in the region.
